1. Who We Are
This website, https://kaluaja.org (the “Site”), is run by Kalu Aja (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are responsible for the personal data collected through the Site. If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact consult@kaluaja.org.
2. What Data We Collect and Why
a. Contact form. Our contact form (built with WPForms) asks for your name, email address, topic, company and message. We use this information only to read and reply to your enquiry. Each submission is sent by email to kaluaja@gmail.com, an inbox hosted by Google. A copy may also be kept in the Site’s WordPress database. We rely on your consent and on our legitimate interest in answering messages sent to us.
b. Email. If you write to consult@kaluaja.org or advertise@kaluaja.org, those addresses forward to our main inbox. We use your message and contact details only to reply to you and manage the related consulting or advertising discussion.
c. Usage data. When you visit the Site, analytics and security tools may collect technical data automatically. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, referring pages, and the time and length of your visit. See Section 3.
We do not sell your personal data.
3. Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. The Site uses a cookie consent banner (Complianz) so you can accept or refuse non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time from the banner or cookie settings link.
- Essential cookies keep the Site working and remember your consent choice.
- Analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through the Google tag and Google Site Kit. It helps us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it. Google processes this data under its own terms. You can learn more at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
4. Google AdSense and Third-Party Advertising
We have applied to show ads through Google AdSense and plan to place ad units on the Site. When ads are active:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies lets Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Ads Settings at https://adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at https://www.aboutads.info/choices or https://www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- To learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Where the law requires it, for example for visitors in the EEA, UK or Nigeria, we load personalised advertising cookies only after you consent through our cookie banner.
5. Third-Party Links and Services
The Site links to services that we do not control, including:
- YouTube (video links). Watching a video on YouTube is governed by Google’s privacy policy.
- Substack (newsletter; see Section 6).
- Pul.LLC (an invitation link to a household finance app). If you sign up, Pul.LLC’s own privacy policy and terms apply.
Some pages may show content embedded from other websites. Embedded content behaves the same way as if you had visited the other website directly, and that site may collect data about you. Please read the privacy policies of these services.
6. Newsletter
Our newsletter is hosted on Substack (finplankaluaja.substack.com). When you subscribe, you give your email address to Substack, which handles it under its own privacy policy (https://substack.com/privacy). We can see subscriber information through Substack. We use it only to send the newsletter, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
7. Data Retention
- Contact form submissions and emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any business relationship that follows. After that, they are deleted within 24 months unless the law requires us to keep them longer.
- Analytics data is kept according to the Google Analytics retention settings, which we set to no more than 14 months.
- Your cookie consent choice is stored on your device for up to 12 months.
8. Your Rights
Nigeria (Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023). As a data subject, you have the right to:
- be informed about how your data is processed;
- access your personal data and get a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict processing;
- object to processing, including for direct marketing;
- data portability;
- not be subject to decisions based only on automated processing;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing done before you withdrew it.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
EEA/UK (GDPR). If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have similar rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
United States (including the CCPA/CPRA). California residents and residents of other states with privacy laws may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete or correct it, and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not sell personal information. You can opt out of advertising cookies through our cookie banner and through the links in Section 4.
To use any of these rights, email consult@kaluaja.org. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity first.
9. International Transfers
Our service providers, including Google and Substack, may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.
10. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, or under 18 where local law sets that age. We do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, up-to-date software and restricted access to our accounts. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Disclaimer
Content on this Site is provided for education, not individual financial advice. Please see our full Disclaimer for details.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we activate advertising. The “Last updated” date above shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Site.
